Hi everyone! My name is Venessa.

I am a fourth year Global Studies and Social Entrepreneurship student here at Wilfrid Laurier University. I am a very passionate individual who is always thinking of something that can either be made better or it may simply not exist yet. I am immensely passionate about trying to reconfigure ways in which I can contribute to my community in an uplifting way that will not only benefit me as a potential entrepreneur, but also every individual who is a part of this community. In my eyes, social change is not something that is a solo act, rather, it is listening to the needs of others. Opening my eyes to the world around me helps me pave the way toward new avenues of change, innovation and exciting possibilities for the future. I truly believe that a new idea does not have to be as far-fetched as ending Sustainable Developmental Goals like world hunger; it could be something as simple as creating a small enterprise that satisfies a common need within a given community. Regardless of how big or small one’s goal is, I truly believe that enthusiastic engagement with communities and the use of all available resources are at the heart of any successful social innovation. Overall, some of the greatest ideas that improve our communities are the simplest and the creative collaboration with those people at its core is what makes them a reality.
