Hello everyone my name is Shannon Giuditti and I am a fourth year communications major with the option of Social Entrepreneurship and a minor in global studies.
Defining the term Social Entrepreneurship can be a complicated task. As to each person the word brings on different creative narratives. However, the core of the option encourages its students to stop dreaming and start doing.
With the turn of the new school year, every day is an inches closer to my own graduation. Starting to think about future goals and what may be the next chapter lying ahead. Social Entrepreneurship and C3IL have lessened this pressure, preparing me for the real world.
By first, imbedding leadership skill with each new project taken on. This past semester my team and I worked side by side with the City of Waterloo in redesigning a community center in efforts to encourage public engagement. (See picture above) Also helping me improve my network, with collaborations from the Laurier Campus, the tri-cities surrounding the region (Waterloo, Kitchener, & Cambridge), and within our local communities. Reflecting on the four different cooperation’s, Non-Profits, and governments I have had the pleasure of working with. Consulting on issue facing their business and have each acknowledge and implement my research within their future plans. Finally, in my last stretch I am able to take all of the experience I have gained and put it towards the creation of my own social venture. Targeting the problem of waste management within Wilfrid Laurier University.
My passion to innovate global sectors has been cultivated throughout these past four years. With the guidance from amazing professor and my own peers. I am so proud to have found the Social Entrepreneurship option within the department of Arts. Being a part and creating my own Golden Hawk Movement.
