In my final year at Laurier, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of many great initiatives. With the help of the SE300 Course: Designing a Social Venture, and with the leadership of Dr. John Abraham, the Waterloo Night Market was launched. As the intern coordinator for the project, and after working at it for two years, it was dreamlike to see all the hard work come to fruition. The market brought together four generations of community members and students creating a unique space of interaction that would not usually exist. The market’s primary goal is to not only be fully sustainable but aims to bridge the gap between the student community and permanent residents.

Through the SE400 Course: Capstone in Social EntrepreneurshipI have launched Good Cup, a social venture that provides eco-friendly, reusable, or compostable solutions to the classic cup. In five months, the venture has come to life capturing three sales that have put the business from the development stage to the growth stage.

Why innovation and learning? It was after four years in university that I realized that innovation and learning fuel one another. I believe that innovation creates progress but with that progress comes learning, then fueling the innovation for the future.
